How does the IOE college priority order work?
Rank the colleges in the order you genuinely want them. A lower choice cannot pull you out of a higher one your rank already reached, and your IOE rank alone decides where you qualify. You file a separate Admission Priority Application form at each campus, through that campus’s own online portal.
The priority order is the ranked list of programmes and colleges you would accept, and it is submitted on an Admission Priority Application form rather than centrally. Every campus and college runs its own online portal for that form, and the published procedure requires a separate application, carrying its own priority, at each campus you want to be considered by. Ranking is not a bet. Your entrance rank alone decides which places you qualify for; the order decides only which of those you are allocated.
What is the Admission Priority Application form?
It is the form on which you name the programmes you want and the order you want them in. IOE requires every campus and college to make it available through its own online portal, and to register the link to that portal with the Centralized Admission Monitoring Committee before the cycle opens. There is no single national form, which is why students who filled one form somewhere are sometimes absent from a list they expected to be on.
What ranking does and does not do
- It does not affect whether you qualify anywhere. Your IOE rank does that.
- It decides, among the places your rank can reach, which one you are allocated.
- Ranking a safe option second does not reduce your chance at your first choice.
- Leaving a college off entirely is the only way to guarantee you are not allocated there.
- It is filed per campus, so a college you never applied to cannot allocate you a seat.
When did the 2083 priority window open and close?
Applications for all three merit lists opened at 10:00 on 14 August 2026 and closed at 15:00 on 18 August. Amendment then ran from 10:00 on 19 August to 15:00 on 22 August, and both windows are closed for this cycle. The 22 August cut-off was the date each campus had to email its final amended priority order to the committee, which makes it a campus-side deadline rather than yours. Your own deadline was earlier by however long your campus needed to process the change, so 14:30 on the last day was already too late.
Are the lists really built on rank alone?
Yes, and the procedure says so in terms. Every campus and college must publish the first, second and third lists, and every later list, strictly in Entrance Rank merit order, and must then admit through the central portal IOE provides. A campus has no discretion to promote a candidate up its own list.
Four checks before you submit
Confirm each college is listed under the name the portal uses, which is not always the name it currently trades under.
Check every programme separately. Civil, Computer and Electronics are distinct entries, not one college entry.
Where a campus runs both Regular and Full Fee, confirm which list you are on. They are separate seat pools with different counts.
File at each campus you want, not only at your first choice, because the form is per campus.
Get written confirmation from the campus that your amendment was sent, because what reaches IOE is what your campus sent.
Who runs the priority process at a campus?
A campus admission committee. The 2083 procedure lets every campus and college constitute one under clause 2.6 of IOE’s graduate and postgraduate admission directive of 2079, as amended up to 8 May 2025, and requires each of them to have registered its portal link with the Centralized Admission Monitoring Committee by 13 August 2026. That is why the form, the portal and the first hearing of a complaint are all campus-side, while the standard they are held to is not.
