What can I do if my IOE admission list entry is wrong?

IOE’s published escalation clause: complaints go to the campus first, then to the monitoring committee by email.
IOE Admission Guidelines 2083, page 4, item 11: the escalation route and the committee’s email address, as printed.

Every IOE merit list carries a published complaint window of 11:00 to 14:00 on the day it appears, with a revised list issued by 18:00 the same day. If your campus does not hear you fairly, you may petition the Centralized Admission Monitoring Committee by email, with evidence, inside the admission period.

There is a formal complaint hour at every merit list and most candidates do not know it exists. The published procedure gives three hours, from 11:00 to 14:00 on the day the list appears, and requires a revised list by 18:00 that same evening. In the 2083/84 cycle those hours fell on 23 August, 30 August and 6 September 2026, one per list, and all three have passed. A complaint goes first to the campus or college named on your entry, and only then, if that hearing is not reasonable, to IOE itself.

What is worth complaining about?

  • Your rank is recorded wrongly.
  • Your priority order does not match what you submitted, which is why written confirmation matters.
  • You appear against the wrong programme, or the wrong seat pool, Regular versus Full Fee.
  • You are absent from a list your rank should have reached.

Where does a complaint go, and in what order?

The procedure sets two steps and they run in sequence rather than in parallel. Skipping the first one costs you the second.

  1. Lodge it with the campus or college concerned, inside the 11:00 to 14:00 window on the day the list is published.

  2. If you consider that the campus has not given it a reasonable hearing, petition the IOE Centralized Admission Monitoring Committee, inside the admission period.

  3. The petition may also be emailed to the committee at admission@ioe.edu.np, with your evidence attached.

Why does the admission period matter so much?

Because the escalation route is bounded by it. The procedure gives the committee jurisdiction over a grievance raised inside the admission period and provides no mechanism afterwards, so a correction that would have been routine on the day becomes a conversation with a campus that has moved on to the next list.

What standard is a list measured against?

Item 5 of the procedure sets it in one sentence: every list, the first, the second, the third and any later one, is published in Entrance Rank merit order, and the admission itself is carried out through the central portal IOE provides. That single clause is what a complaint argues about. If a candidate with a worse rank appears above you for the same programme and the same seat pool, the list has departed from its own published standard, and a campus can check that in minutes against the rank file it was given. A complaint resting on anything else has no clause behind it, and the three-hour window is short enough that the difference decides whether it is heard.

Does the complaint hour move for a public holiday?

No. The procedure states that the admission programme in its schedule may be run on emergency and public holidays as well. The clause exists to stop the whole calendar sliding when a list day lands on a festival, and it has a consequence most candidates do not plan for: the eleven-to-two window sits on the printed date whether or not an office would ordinarily be open that day. Waiting for the next working day is how the window is missed.

A list you were never on is not always a mistake

A campus publishing its second or third list is allowed to open a further round of applications, inside this same calendar, provided it announces the round by prior notice. The procedure also requires that notice to state plainly which list an application remains valid up to, and by what date a new application has to be submitted. So an applicant who did not apply in the first round, and then finds no entry against their name in the second list, is not looking at an error. They are looking at a round they were not in. Read the campus notice first, because the complaint hour is too short to spend on it.

Bring paper

Your entrance scorecard, your submitted priority order, and the campus’s written confirmation that it was sent. A complaint without documents, inside a three-hour window, is unlikely to go anywhere.

  • What is the IOE central admission timetable, and how many merit lists are there?Three, and all three are centrally scheduled. In the 2083/84 cycle they were published on 23 August, 30 August and 6 September 2026, each by 10:00, each with a complaint window from 11:00 to 14:00 and a revised list by 18:00. Anything after the third list is run by the individual campus.
  • How does the IOE college priority order work?Rank the colleges in the order you genuinely want them. A lower choice cannot pull you out of a higher one your rank already reached, and your IOE rank alone decides where you qualify. You file a separate Admission Priority Application form at each campus, through that campus’s own online portal.
  • Is my seat real once the college says I am admitted? Not until your name is recorded on the IOE central admission portal at admission.ioe.edu.np. Take the portal’s Confirmation Page from the college, then verify the entry yourself. A campus that fails to record you leaves you not admitted, and the procedure puts that on the campus.
  • What happens if two candidates get the same IOE entrance score?A three-level tie-break: total marks to three decimal places, then Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and English in that order, then +2 marks followed by SEE marks.
