A digital twin is a 3D model of a real structure that is kept connected to it — measurements taken in the field build the model, simulation predicts how the real thing should behave, and sensors on the structure feed live readings back so the model and the building stay in step. It is not a rendering or a visualisation: a rendering is finished when it looks right, whereas a twin keeps changing because the thing it describes keeps changing.
That loop is why it crosses all three engineering programmes at once. Civil supplies the survey, the structure and the loads. Computer supplies the model, the data pipeline and the simulation. Electronics supplies the sensors and the link that carries their readings back. The lab above runs one small piece of that loop in your browser; a BIM-Digital Twin Centre at the Tathali campus is planned to run the whole of it.
