Where is Janakpur Engineering College located?

Tathali, Bhaktapur, in Bagmati Province. Not Janakpur, and no longer the Kupondole address that older listings still carry. Both current IOE sources place it in Bhaktapur.

The college is at Tathali, in Bhaktapur district, Bagmati Province. The name misleads in two directions at once: it is not in Janakpur, and it is no longer at the Lalitpur address most older records show. Janakpur is the origin of the name and has not been an operating location; Kupondole in Lalitpur was the campus until the move to a purpose-built site at Tathali. Both current IOE sources agree on where it is now. Section 2.6 of the 2083 B.E./B.Arch booklet lists it against Bhaktapur, and Tribhuvan University’s own IOE page gives the address as "Tathali, Bhaktapur". Where a directory, an encyclopaedia entry or a mapping service says Lalitpur, it has frozen at the previous address rather than found a different college. Plan a visit to Tathali, and confirm the route by phone first, because mapping services still resolve the former name inconsistently.

What the affiliating institute’s own booklet says

Section 2.6 lists the ten TU-affiliated colleges with their districts. The entry sits in the right-hand column and reads जनकपुर इन्जिनियरिङ कलेज, भक्तपुर — Janakpur Engineering College, Bhaktapur. The paragraph printed under the table is the other half of the section, and it is worth reading while you are there: it states that passing the IOE entrance is compulsory for admission to any affiliated college, and that each of them must admit ten per cent of its intake at a fee equivalent to IOE’s Regular rate.

Why records disagree

A rename and a relocation happened close together and different records froze at different moments. IOE’s current booklet places the college in Bhaktapur. Some directory and encyclopaedia entries still say Lalitpur, and at least one mapping record under the former name is marked permanently closed at the address the college left. Where sources conflict, the affiliating institute’s own booklet is the one to trust, because it is the document the admission process actually runs on.

Use Tathali, Bhaktapur, and confirm the route by phone first, because mapping services still resolve the old name inconsistently. Worth knowing before you commit four years: IOE’s booklet states that daily travel to campus is the student’s own responsibility at every provider in the system, so make the journey once yourself.
