Where does IOE publish the entrance result and the merit list?

Both on entrance.ioe.edu.np. The 2083 list carried 7,179 names in alphabetical order with a rank against each and no marks. Campus admission then runs on a separate portal, admission.ioe.edu.np.

IOE publishes the entrance result and the merit list on the Entrance Examination Board’s own site, entrance.ioe.edu.np. College and campus admission then runs on a different portal, admission.ioe.edu.np, and confusing the two is the usual cause of panic. For the 2083 cycle the result went up on 4 August 2026 as a single PDF: an Office of the Dean notice, then 122 pages headed “PASS LIST IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER” carrying 7,179 candidates. Each row gives a serial number, a form number, the applicant’s name, gender, district, a rank between 1 and 7,179, and a remarks column. There is no marks column anywhere in it. Alphabetical order means you look up your own name rather than scrolling to a position, and your own marks come separately, from the score card on the same site. Only candidates at or above a minimum percentage set by IOE’s Academic Council appear on the list at all.

Which portal holds what?

What does the published list actually contain?

Seven columns and nothing else: serial number, form number, applicant’s name, gender, district, rank, and remarks. The remarks column is almost entirely empty, and the list closes with a single line recording that one form number was expelled. Nowhere does the document print a score, a percentage or a subject breakdown, which is why a rank is the only number most candidates ever see.

It is also worth knowing what the list is not. It is not sorted by rank, so you cannot read down it to find who came first. It is not a list of everyone who sat the paper, only of those who passed. And it is not an offer of a seat anywhere, at any campus or college.

How is the order decided?

The booklet sets it out in two places. Your total percentage in the entrance becomes your Entrance Score. IOE’s Academic Council fixes a minimum pass percentage each year, and only candidates at or above it are placed in the merit list at all. Within the list, position is by Entrance Score, calculated to three decimal places. If two candidates are still level after that, subject marks are compared in the order Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, and then 10+2 marks followed by SLC or SEE marks.

What the booklet never prints is the minimum percentage itself, for this cycle or as a standing rule, so no fixed pass mark exists to revise towards. The separate answer on IOE entrance pass marks sets out why, and what the numbers circulating as cut-offs actually are.

What can you do on entrance.ioe.edu.np?

The portal home page carries three things and no more, so it is quicker to check than it looks.

1. Student Registration. The online entrance application, open only during the application window. For the 2083 cycle that ran from 2083 Asar 23 at 10:00 to 2083 Shrawan 1 at 17:00, and it is closed.

2. Registration Status. A lookup that shows whether a submitted application went through, used before the exam rather than after it.

3. Print Your Score Card. Your own marks, released after the result and available only for a limited window. It asks for your last name, your date of birth in either Bikram Sambat or AD, and your identification number.

The step people skip

Passing the entrance and appearing on the merit list is not admission. After you enrol, check that your name is recorded on the central admission portal. A campus that fails to record you there leaves you not admitted, and the published procedure places that responsibility on the campus rather than on you. Check it yourself instead of taking the office’s word for it.
