Which BE programmes does Imperial College of Engineering run, and how many seats?
Three programmes and 192 seats: Civil 96, Computer 48, and Electronics, Communication and Information 48. IOE’s own 2083 booklet publishes the same three figures, under the college’s former name.
Three four-year Bachelor of Engineering programmes, all taught to the Tribhuvan University curriculum under the Institute of Engineering, and all entered through the IOE entrance examination on one merit list. Civil takes 96 students, Computer 48, and Electronics, Communication and Information 48, which is 192 places in total. That figure is not our own claim about ourselves. IOE publishes an intake target for every affiliated college in its 2083 booklet, and the entry for this college, still listed there under the former name Janakpur Engineering College, reads 96, 48 and 48 for a total of 192. The seat count is the sanctioned ceiling for the year rather than a forecast, and it is the same number the central admission portal fills against.

Where the number comes from
IOE’s booklet carries two intake tables on printed page 10. The first sets the target for each of the five constituent campuses, split into Regular and Full Fee. The second, reproduced below, sets one target per affiliated private college.
The ten affiliated colleges together target 2,304 places. Reading across that row tells you something a prospectus will not: which colleges run five programmes and which run three, and how far apart their intakes are.
What the seat count does and does not tell you
It is the ceiling on how many people can be admitted, so it bounds your chances and nothing more. Cutoffs move every year with that year’s applicants, which means a previous year’s closing rank is context and never a guarantee.
It also does not tell you how many of those places are still open when your merit list is published. Seats fill across three central lists in order of rank, so the number that matters on the day is the vacancy figure on the admission portal, not the target in the booklet.
The same degree, wherever you study it
All fifteen TU-affiliated engineering providers, five constituent campuses and ten private colleges, teach the same syllabus, sit the same examinations set by IOE’s Examination Control Division, and award the same Tribhuvan University degree. What differs between them is teaching, laboratories, cost and location.
